Catalpa can be identified by it’s giant heart-shaped
leaves. Tea from the bark works as an antidote for snake bites, as an antiseptic, laxative and a sedative. It also serves  as a substitute for quinine to treat Malaria, and it also treats Whooping cough. Seed tea treats asthma and bronchitis. A leaf poultice on wounds helps them to heal.
The long fruit looks like giant string beans and is a sedative and it also has cardio-active properties. Catalpa is also used to make a treatment for conjunctivitis.

            Yellow Poplar or Tulip Tree
The yellow poplar or tulip tree is one of the tallest and most distinctive North American hardwoods. It is not a poplar at all. It belongs to the Magnolia Family.
Cherokee tribes made the leaves into a poultice to treat inflammation and sores. Bark tea treats fevers, diarrhea, pin worms, and digestive and rheumatic pain.
The bark tea is a substitute for quinine to treat malaria. It is also useful for soothing  tooth aches  and as a cough medicine.
